Must be free from dirt, free from non-ferrous metals and foreign material and exclude excessive moisture, introduced loose cast iron, incinerator material, grindings, swarf, turnings and borings. Should also be free from tin cans. Homogeneous iron and steel scrap magnetically separated, originating from automobiles, unprepared No. 1 and No. 2 steel, miscellaneous baling and sheet scrap. Average density 70 pounds per cubic foot.
SHREDDED 210 SCRAP
Homogeneous iron and steel scrap, magnetically separated, originating from automobiles, unprepared No. 1 and No. 2 steel, miscellaneous baling and sheet scrap. Average density 50 pounds per cubic foot.
PNS (PLATE & STRUCTURAL STEEL)

Cut Structural & Plate Scrap, 5 feet and under. Clean open hearth steel plates, structural shapes, crop ends, shearings, or broken steel tires. Dimensions not less than ¼ inch thickness, not over 5 feet in length and 18 inches in width. Phosphorus or Sulphur not over 0.05 percent.

HMS 1 & HMS 1/2
HMS 1 is the term for heavier scrap which has a density of at least 0.7 tons per cubic meter, whereas HMS 2 would be lighter steel scrap such as thin wall tubing (e.g. bicycle frames), sheet scrap less than 3.2mm thick and so on. The two are normally sold together with a ratio of 80/20 heavy and light, and so this would be the typical product being referred to when scrap dealers.
